my principles

I aspire to inspire and insight revolutions.

I believe that live theatre is a revolutionary act. I believe that theatre reminds us of our humanity. That is a revolution.

I believe in a collaborative theater where everyone in the room is respected, honored, and empowered.

I believe in taking risks and jumping off cliffs (metaphorically).

I believe in doing what scares me.

I believe theatre is a community practice.

I believe in non-hierarchical processes.

I believe in inviting people in.

I believe in bold and brave performances.

I believe everything is a performance.

I believe in radical authenticity.

I believe in honesty.

I believe in integrity.

I believe in balance.

I believe artists are human beings.

I believe actors are the opposite of human beings. I believe it is our job to remember that. And not get lost in the sauce.

Inspire means “to breathe life into.”

I believe we are all meant to inspire each other.

I believe in feeling the ground. Remembering where you have been to know where you are going.

I believe in honoring yourself. I believe in taking up space. I believe in giving yourself the grace to f#ck up.

I believe we are all imperfect. I believe we are all a little shitty sometimes. It’s how you make amends that matters.

I believe in kindness. I do not believe in niceties.

I do not believe in using your trauma for the benefit of others.

I do not believe in toxic work environments.

I do not believe in scarcity mindsets.

I do not believe a hotdog is a sandwich.

I believe in leading with love.

I believe in creating the world I want to inhabit.

I seek to tell stories that remind people of their humanity.

I seek to have a good ass time.

I seek to never forget to laugh, dance, and sing.

I look for the joy.

I look for the love.

I look for people’s truths.

And I try, try, try. Again and again.

“I’m prepared to never give up. And always move forward. When I raise my voice above all the thunder. I sing, I sing, I sing my own way.”
